What Do We Still Need Help With?

1) Getting the word out - Tell your friends, fellow twitters, bloggers, etc. about this great event.

2) Raffle Prizes- Big or small, anything is greatly appreciated and will be promoted on this blog, in twitter and press releases sent out.

Hooray! Another Sponsor

A big thank you goes out to interactive agency, BarkleyREI, who will be sponsoring the food for the event next Thursday. Guests will enjoy a variety of delicious treats from Downey’s House in Robinson, courtesy of BarkleyREI.

We are right on track with the planning and execution of this event and wanted to extend a special thanks to our sponsors, donors and all the individuals who have been helping so far.

Looking forward to the event and raising lots of money for Charity: Water.

More to come, stay tuned!

Location, Location, Location!

Hooray! A location has been chosen for next Thursday’s special event. Downey’s House in Robinson, Twp will be housing the crowd. Located on Stubenville Pike, Downey’s will be featuring live entertainment, courtesy of Juan Vasquez from Sauce. Get ready for some good food, good music, great prizes and even better company.

Remember, you can donate here!

One in six people doesn’t have clean water. Here’s how you can help Pittsburgh Twestival:

1) Buy your ticket here. 100% of proceeds go straight to charity:water.
2) Blog it. Charity:water provides both a poignant video on why this is important as well as badges for your site.
3) Donate and tell your friends and companies you know to donate. Here’s the page to do so. If ten of us tell 20 people to donate $20 each, we will have earned enough for a water well. This requires so few resources to impact so much change. You matter in this campaign. Never forget that.
4) Spread the word. Feel the joy of knowing you are bringing life to those who need it most.

While We’re Securing A Location

We’re working on getting a location fast and furiously but the next goal is to work on a couple of things

1) Entertainment/Music - Do you know of any bands, magicians, karaoke machine man,  psychic readers, etc. that would be willing to donate their services on Feb 12?  Please let us know.  We already have people working on this but any help would be appreciated.

2) Sponsorship/Prizes - Do you know of any local companies that might want to donate their services/product as a prize or want to sponsor the event for our good cause and free publicity?  Let us know.

Depending on the location we might be looking for food donations.  We’ll let you all know.

First Thing First -We Need A Venue

Anyone know of a good place for us to have an event? Most of the other cities are having their events at pubs or clubs.  I was thinking even if we could do it at a bowling alley.  It might be fun and a great way to meet new people.

We need your help with the Pittsburgh Twestival

We need YOUR help to make this event a success:

  • Save the date. Commit to coming to Pittsburgh’s Twestival on Thursday, February 12, 2009.
  • Help us plan. If you have connections to venues, performers, sponsors, caterers, giveaways, etc… We need your help! If you don’t have any connections… We need your help too! All we need are a bunch of willing hands. Which brings us to…
  • Join the team. If you can commit some time (it doesn’t have to be much), over the next two weeks and we’re extending the invitation to anyone who wants to help out. Email pittsburghtwestival@gmail.com with your name, email address, phone number, twitter name and any special skills, knowledge or hookups that might help out.
  • Spread the word. We know that most of you don’t have time to help us coordinate the event. But you can still help! Spread the word on your blog, your twitter, your facebook, at your school, at your church, at your workplace. Everyone can support a good cause, right?

Our specific needs right now are: VOLUNTEERS, a venue, sponsors to donate prizes and food (and drinks, wink wink!) and friends who will spread the word far and wide, beyond the crowd that we can reach by ourselves. Again, email pittsburghtwestival@gmail.com with your ideas.

What is Twestival?

Twestival is a global coordinated fundraising effort for charity:water. The goal is to have as many cities around the world on February 12, 2009, have events to gather people to have fun, raise awareness, and raise funds for charity:water.

Here in Pittsburgh, we are still in the planning stages. We are working on finding a venue; we are trying to do something different than usual for the Pittsburgh community. We would like to find a venue that we can have food, drink, and hopefully a either a Rock Band tournament or karaoke tournament.

Stayed tuned here for official announcements as we solidify details for the Pittsburgh Twestival!
